One way to talk to your audience in a language they understand

I recently heard a good point from Neil deGrasse Tyson when telling a story about something people do not have previous experience with.

He talks about space exploration and concepts that most of us on Earth will not have any connection with during our entire lifetimes.

To get our audience to relate to our message, it is important to talk in a language they can understand.

One way to do that is to compare things you want to present with objects of the audience’s everyday life.

For instance, he was comparing a space shuttle part with the size of a coffee cup.

That way, you know that the audience will exactly visualize the element you’re presenting.
